Romford’s marshalled taxi rank
A NEW marshalled taxi rank is in operation on Romford’s Eastern Road.
The rank will be in operation on Friday and Saturday nights between 10.30pm and 3.30am, when marshals will be on hand to organise passenger and taxi queues, and provide reassurance for people who are waiting.
This scheme is part of the Mayor’s Safer Travel at Night campaign, an ongoing programme involving the Greater London Authority, Transport for London and the Metropolitan Police.
Late night marshalled taxi ranks currently operate in Beckenham, Bromley, Cranbourn Street (opposite Leicester Square), Liverpool Street station, Queen Victoria Street (near Bank station) and Kingston.
The Public Carriage Office has been working with the London Borough of Havering and the local police to improve taxi arrangements late at night in Romford town centre and introduce this scheme.
